Collections

The shop is organised into three collections rather than a single long list, because the pieces ask for different things from a room. Farm House Collections is the working metal and timber — buckets, feeders, moulds, presses. Vintage Inspired is the quieter domestic material: carved bowls, old glass, glazed pots. Local Pick Up Only holds the furniture that is too heavy or too fragile to ship.

What runs through all three is a single buying rule. We do not buy anything that has been restored to look new, and we do not restore anything ourselves beyond making it safe and sound. A dent, a chip in enamel, a worn hollow in a bench seat and a bloom on old glass are the evidence that the object did the job it was made for, and once that evidence is sanded or sprayed away there is nothing left to distinguish the piece from a reproduction.

Stock moves quickly and much of it is one of a kind, so a collection page is a snapshot rather than a catalogue. If you are hunting for something specific — a particular size of bowl, a matching pair of buckets, a bench of a certain length — send us a note through the contact page and we will keep it in mind on the next buying trip.

Finally, a note on photographs. Everything on this site is photographed as it is, in daylight, without retouching, and the pictures on a listing are of the actual piece rather than a representative example from a batch. Where wear is significant we photograph the wear as well as the good side. It makes for less flattering pictures and considerably fewer surprises at the other end.
